Hall County Released Inmate Records
A Hall County release means one booking at Hall County Jail has ended. It does not always mean the person is free of custody or court control. The sheriff records the local book-out event. The combined District and County Clerk holds the case orders that explain its legal basis. TDCJ records a later state-prison status, while federal agencies maintain their own custody records. A current roster, if one is added later, would answer who remains jailed now. It would not serve as a complete history of Hall County released inmates.
Hall County does not currently publish a roster or released-person archive. That makes a missing name only a clue. A person may have bonded out, finished a sentence, received a court order, transferred, or been indexed under different details. Confirmation requires the release type and destination. Bond and sentence completion often lead back to the community. A TDCJ, federal, county, or ICE transfer leads to another custodian. Parole and probation can continue after physical release.
- Book-out
- The recorded end of one county-jail booking.
- Transfer
- A handoff to another custodian, not community freedom.
- Parole
- Conditional community supervision after release from a state sentence.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision, called community supervision in Texas law.
- Discharge
- The legal end of a correctional sentence or supervision term.
Hall County Inmate Release Routes
The coded exit controls what to do next. A bond release ends jail custody while the charge continues. Time served means the credited county term has been completed. A dismissal or acquittal may support a judge’s release order. Probation can place the person in the community under a court and local supervision department. A state commitment moves the person into TDCJ intake. Federal or immigration transfer also ends Hall County custody without ending detention.
| Release type | Meaning | Next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond | Community release while the case remains open | Clerk docket and sheriff book-out |
| Time served | County confinement credited as complete | Judgment, credit order, book-out |
| Court order | Release under a signed judicial action | Order plus physical release record |
| Probation | Community supervision under the court | Clerk and District Adult Probation |
| TDCJ transfer | State custody begins | TDCJ search after intake |
| Federal or ICE transfer | Another government custodian receives the person | Named receiving agency |
“Released to ICE” and “released to TDCJ” are transfer phrases. They should never be shortened to “released” without the destination. Likewise, parole release from a state prison is not full discharge. The person may live in the community while the state sentence and conditions continue.
Fields in Hall County Release Records
Hall County has not posted its jail-management field names. Request the specific data needed instead of asking for an undefined report. The useful record ties the exit to one booking, identifies the authority for release, and names a recipient when custody continued elsewhere. Exact fields can be withheld or redacted when an exception applies, but a narrow request gives the custodian a clear target.
| Requested field | What it helps establish |
|---|---|
| Booked name and aliases | Identity used for this admission |
| Booking number | Unique link to the jail event |
| Booking date and time | Start of the custody period |
| Release date and time | Recorded physical book-out |
| Release type or authority | Bond, order, sentence completion, transfer, or another code |
| Receiving agency | Where a transferred person went |
| Charges, causes, and bonds | Connection to court and bond records |
| Booking photograph | Image tied to that booking, if releasable |
A release summary is not the same as a complete criminal case. The clerk’s signed order or judgment supplies the legal context. A parole record explains continuing state supervision. Pairing the correct records avoids treating an arrest as a conviction or a transfer as community release.
Request Hall County Release Records
Send a written Public Information Act request to hallso@co.hall.tx.us or Hall County Sheriff, 101 South 9th Street, Memphis, Texas 79245. The official page does not advertise a special inmate-record form, fixed fee, or promised production time. Ask for electronic copies and an itemized estimate before charges exceed a limit you choose.
- Identify the person by full booked name, approximate booking date, and booking number if known. Add birth date only when needed to separate names.
- Ask for an existing booking/release summary and list the desired fields. Do not ask the agency to create a narrative or decide a legal issue.
- Request the release time, type, authority, transfer destination, charge and cause data, bond entries, and linked booking photo when relevant.
- Keep the response and note the date received. If records do not exist, ask for that answer in writing.
- For a broader TDCJ history, use the state’s inmate information or Public Information Act channel instead of the county sheriff.
Texas Government Code section 552.301 generally gives a governmental body ten business days to seek an Attorney General decision when it wishes to withhold material and lacks a prior determination. That deadline is not a promise of full production within ten days. Charges depend on the record and state cost rules. A destroyed record under a valid retention schedule is different from a person never having been booked.
Hall County Release Record Law
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 supplies the general public-information framework. It does not make every part of every file open. Juvenile material, confidential criminal-history data, medical facts, victim information, active law-enforcement material, and records protected by another law can be withheld or redacted. Court-file access also follows judicial rules, so the clerk remains the proper source for judgments and orders.
Release does not automatically erase an arrest. Current Texas expunction law is in Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A. Nondisclosure under Government Code Chapter 411 is a different remedy. Eligibility can depend on the disposition, waiting periods, offense facts, and other cases. Hall County’s clerk links state nondisclosure forms and Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, but neither the clerk nor a release record promises eligibility.
A released booking can remain in agency files even when no public web page shows it. Request access from the custodian and respect any sealing or expunction order.
Find Released Hall County Inmates
A direct Hall County path is more reliable than a broad name search. Search engines prominently return Hall Counties in other states. Confirm Memphis, Texas, the `co.hall.tx.us` domain, and local identifiers before accepting any result.
- Call sheriff dispatch at 806-259-2636 or 806-259-2637. Ask whether the named booking was closed, when it closed, its release type, and whether another agency received the person.
- Email the sheriff for the durable book-out summary. Narrow the request to one person and booking period.
- Search the Hall County clerk’s LGS portal by cause number when possible. Read the judgment, bond, dismissal, sentence, and docket events.
- If the sheriff names TDCJ, search by TDCJ number or SID after intake. A state transfer is not a community release.
- Check Texas IVSS-Counties for Hall participation and prior notifications. Treat an alert as timely support, not a certified record.
- For federal or immigration transfer, use the correct receiving system and court record.
Why is the person no longer on a roster? A current list removes people when its custody relationship ends. That disappearance does not disclose whether the person bonded out, completed time, transferred, or was reindexed. The release entry answers the question.
TDCJ Search for Hall County Releases
The TDCJ Inmate Search covers Texas prison records, not every Hall County jail stay. It becomes relevant when TDCJ received the person or already holds a state record. Search by the seven-digit TDCJ number or SID when available. A name search needs a last name and at least a first initial, followed by careful matching of age, offense, county, and identifiers.
| Search input or result | Use |
|---|---|
| TDCJ number | Best direct state identifier |
| SID number | Texas state identification match |
| Name | Starting point that needs added identity checks |
| Status or location | Shows current state-system relationship |
| Projected release date | A computed projection, not proof of release |
| Maximum sentence and parole data | Separate sentence and review concepts |
If a released person does not appear or an old record is unclear, email pia@tdcj.texas.gov with full name and TDCJ number. Without that number, include exact birth date or approximate age and county of conviction. TDCJ lists incarceration history, offense, location, county and court, and projected date among the free information available by email. That email route does not supply photographs.
Hall County Recent Release Search
As checked August 2, 2026, Hall County’s official sheriff page has no current roster, 24-hour list, 72-hour list, booking archive, or mugshot feed. There is no public cadence, web retention period, or set of display fields to describe. The useful same-day route is the Hall County 24-Hour Release List fallback: call dispatch for one person, then request the book-out record.
For a three-day period, give the sheriff a bounded date range. Dispatch is available around the clock, but that does not mean records staff produce documents at all hours. If Texas IVSS-Counties lists Hall County, a registration may provide event alerts by phone, text, or email. The portal is conditional because the state warns that not all counties participate.
Note: Never substitute a Hall County, Georgia or Nebraska release database for Hall County, Texas records.
Hall County Post-Release Supervision
Parole and probation answer different questions. TDCJ Parole Division supervises qualifying people after state-prison release, while a local community-supervision department administers probation ordered by a court. TDCJ’s county cross-reference assigns Hall County parole routing to the Plainview District Parole Office at 1001 North Interstate Highway 27, Suite 232, Plainview. Its phone is 806-293-5989. The City of Memphis lists District Adult Probation separately at 806-259-3388.
Start with the identified person’s record. TDCJ search data can show parole or state status. The clerk’s judgment and later orders show whether community supervision was imposed, changed, revoked, or ended. The Hall County parole and probation resource details these separate verification routes. An allegation that someone absconded does not prove a new conviction; use the supervising or issuing authority to check current status.
Hall County Release Alerts
Texas replaced county VINE with Texas IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. The system can report booking, release, transfer to TDCJ, escape, death, and court-event changes, with call, text, and email preferences. Existing registrations moved to the new platform, which is account-based. Hall County participation must be confirmed inside the live portal. If Hall is absent, use sheriff dispatch and the written record route.
Once custody moves to TDCJ, use the separate TDCJ IVSS for prison, parole, release, and discharge notifications. Federal custody uses other channels. The BOP locator covers federal records from 1982 onward; a past release date with no institution confirms exit from BOP custody, not the end of all custody or supervised release. ICE’s locator focuses on present detention and is weak as a historical release archive. A federal pretrial person held under U.S. Marshals authority may require the federal court docket instead of BOP.
The BOP Inmate Locator shows the federal search form used for this distinct custody layer.
The federal form should be used only when federal custody is supported by the sheriff record or federal case, not as a substitute for Hall County’s book-out information.
Hall County Custody Status Sources
No single system covers every Hall County outcome. Choose the source based on the custody layer and the fact being tested. A present-custody locator and a release history can produce different, correct answers about the same person.
| Source | Best use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Hall Sheriff book-out | Exact local exit and coded type | Must be requested directly |
| Hall clerk case | Legal order, judgment, and disposition | May not show physical exit time |
| TDCJ search or email | State custody, release, discharge, supervision | Not every county-jail stay |
| IVSS systems | Event alerts after registration | Not certified records |
| BOP locator | Federal custody record since 1982 | Does not rule out other custody |
| ICE locator | Present immigration detention | Not a dependable release archive |
Hall County Release Facility
The supported facility map contains one local detention facility, Hall County Jail, operated by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. No official source located a TDCJ prison, federal institution, ICE detention center, public municipal jail release system, or regional correctional facility inside Hall County. A local arrest can still lead elsewhere. When the sheriff codes an exit as transfer, the named receiving agency becomes the next source.
Hall County Release Property Questions
Hall County publishes no property-return procedure, release pickup point, or set pickup hours. Call the jail before travel and ask what identification, place, and time apply. Do not use an address from an unverified jail directory. The official sheriff contact is 101 South 9th Street in Memphis, but the county has not said that every property or release pickup occurs there.
A record correction should go to the office that created the disputed item. Send sheriff release errors, identifiers, and a supporting order to the Sheriff’s Office. Send court docket issues to the combined clerk. For a covered commercial publisher, Texas Business and Commerce Code section 109.004 provides a dispute process for inaccurate criminal-record information. It does not replace an agency correction request.
Hall County Offsite Court Records
The Hall County clerk links the LGS Online Records Search, yet its page also warns that some research is limited while records remain offsite during a courthouse transition. An older case may therefore require an appointment or focused request even when the page says records are available online. Use a cause number and request the exact judgment, dismissal, bond, or supervision order.
The LGS county selection page is the official online starting point supplied by the clerk.

The portal’s county and category choices should be checked before assuming a criminal document is imaged. Staff assistance may still be required for an offsite record.
Hall County Release Record Clearing
Release by itself does not erase a booking, court case, or photograph. Expunction under Chapter 55A and nondisclosure under Government Code Chapter 411 are separate legal paths with fact-specific rules. Acquittal, pardon, dismissal facts, waiting periods, and the broader criminal episode can matter. The Hall County clerk links state nondisclosure forms and Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, providing a local route to reliable forms and help without promising an outcome.
When an order applies, follow its scope and contact each proper custodian. Do not try to bypass sealed or expunged access limits. A commercial page that remains inaccurate may also fall under Chapter 109’s dispute duties, but that statute has limits and exceptions.
